Situated off the west coast of Morocco and open to North Atlantic swells, the volcanic island of Lanzarote could have been designed with surfers in mind. From October to April powerful ground swells unleash their power on the many world-class reef breaks located on the north west/east coastline. For the rest of the year the waves are more manageable and the beach breaks provide consistent fun waves ideal for beginners and intermediates. This combined with the semi-arid, dry desert climate, hardly any rainfall plus relatively balmy water temps earns it a reputation for being one Europe’s top surfing destinations.

Fuerteventura is the 2nd largest of the Canary Islands and only 90km for the west coast of Africa. Fuerteventura has a semi-arid, dry desert climate and hardly any rainfall. Fuerteventura benefits from an all year round surf and the reefs deliver the goods between October and April. All coastlines pick up swell but the majority of the action occurs on the infamous north shore however for those amongst you looking to surf empty peaks the south of the island still has lots of untapped potential. For those wanting to learn how to surf or improve their surfing the island also has a wide range of quality beach breaks.

Gran Canaria is a paradise for learning to surf! The island has a huge variety of beach breaks from the fine golden sand beaches in the south to the dark sand beaches in the north and small rounded lava stone beaches in between. Gran Canaria is ideally located to recieve North Atlantic swells. It's low lying nature means that average swell sizes are generally smaller than the more northerly Canary Islands and it's round shape provides travelling surfers with a choice of coasts that will work under a variety of wind/swell conditions.

This combined with it's "Eternal Spring" climate and relatively balmy water temps makes it an ideal destination for beginners and intermediate surfers especially when the bill chill hits the rest of Europe in winter. Zoco run surfing holidays in the North and South of the island.
