Kiteboarding Academy Lanzarote
The KITEBOARDING ACADEMY was founded as a cross over between the Snowboarding and Kiteboarding culture. The founder is a keen local surfer who got hooked on snowboarding and went on to become a qualified snowboarding instructor. While teaching in the Alps he met loads of snowboarders looking for a summer alternative, they ended up coming to Lanzarote to Kiteboard. The snowboarders' demands for classes grew so rapidly that in 1997 the Kiteboarding Academy was founded.
By 1998, The KITEBOARDING ACADEMY was attracting people from the Swiss, Spanish German & Austrian snowboard & surfing community. Many professional Snowboard riders like the Spanish Champion & Olympic Rider Iker Fernanadez, the Swiss pro riders Michi Albin, Daniel Sappa, Patrik Koller, Martina Tscharner (ex-World Half-Pipe Champion), Burgi Heckmair (Germany), Elexeja Pozzoni as well as the Snowboarder Magazine's crew join our camps every year.
InstructorsAll our instructors are IKO qualified and have First Aid and Water Rescue qualifications as well. All of our crew members have great people and communication skills and between them speak French, German, English and Spanish. Because of our teams love of boardsports, we have instructors who are also qualified to teach Surfing, Bodyboarding & Snowboarding. This team are accustomed to coaching at different levels.
Coaching
We offer a wide range of coaching and tuition, from beginner up to advanced. If it's your first attempt at kite surfing you will start with the IKO beginners course. Upon completion of the course you will recieve an IKO kiteboarder card which can be used anywhere in the world to further your training.
If you have already attained a kiteboarding level through an IKO affiliated school then bring your IKO kiteboarder card and the team will allocate a course to take you to the next level. All lessons take place on the 5 km long Playa Famara beach.

Equipment
The KITEBOARDING ACADEMY stock around 10 kiteboards and about 24 Kites. The equipment is designed for beginners, intermediates and advanced kitesurfers. Safety is always a key factor. Beginners will use boards designed for both stability and safety and the instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and level. All the equipment is checked and maintained on a regular basis to ensure you have the best material at your disposal. Safety
Safety is an important factor when participating in any sport especially water sports. The centre is constantly striving to create a safe environment to learn in.
