Design characteristic
The Instinct is made to work and survive in all kind of wave conditions and for any kind of style and weight.
Design brief
Create a sail for Vidar Jensen enabling him to win World Cup Wave events. Therefore the sail has to work in Hookipa as well as in Sylt and Gran Canaria. Try to make the Instinct strong enough to even withstand harsh “Pozo on the rocks conditions”, without the sail becoming too heavy.
Design realization
Kai has completely reworked the twist pattern to give the Instinct more elasticity and a more comfortable feel. Using the TRIAX.LEECH.PANEL, Kai was able to increase the elasticity making you forget the sail when surfing the wave. The addition of the X.PLY 725 material in the upper body panel makes the Instinct bomb-proof yet doesn’t add tremendous weight to it.
