TRAVEL INFORMATION
FlightsWhilst we cannot book your flights, our team can offer you a few tips on how to get to Fuerteventura. Departures are from most European airports and times of flights may vary throughout the year. The main changeover day from the UK is a Wednesday so you will find more choice then. Prices for flights to Fuerteventura vary greatly. The cheapest we have heard of is 140 Euros return, but there have been cases of people paying 425 Euros for tickets in the height of season. Normally you can expect to pay between 170 Euros and 312 Euros for a return ticket. If anyone actually finds one of the elusive 95 Euros return tickets on the Internet, please let one of the team know!
You can also fly to Fuerteventura via Madrid or even via one of the other Canary Islands. Check out these options if you are restricted by the dates you can get away.
Also, British Airways now operates scheduled flights to Fuerteventura on a regular basis.
Travel and Health Insurance
European Union citizens can enter the Canary Islands with just their passport. No vaccinations are needed. Whilst there are reciprocal health agreements within the European Union a separate travel and health insurance should be considered essential. Please ensure your insurance covers your for dangerous sports especially surfing. For cheap and comprehensive cover Zoco recommend: Columbus Direct. (We use them when we travel) We also recommend you bring a valid E111 which can be picked-up from your local post office as UK citizens can get free emergency medical treatment with this form. Watch out for the strong Mediterranean sun; use a high-factor sunscreen, wear a hat and avoid the midday sun. Mosquitoes can be a problem; cover up in the evenings or use an insect repellent on exposed skin.
Boards, Baggage and DingsMost airlines will charge either a flat fee e.g. Surfboard 45 Euros or an excess baggage charge per kilo. Normally you have to pre-book equipment prior to departure. Make sure you check about bringing equipment when you book your ticket. Check your travel insurance for equipment cover whilst in transit. Don't forget to pack a ding repair kit.
