NIGHTLIFE and OTHER KICKS
Other Kicks
Besides the obvious watersports related activities (windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing,
diving, fishing, snorkeling etc.)
There are lots of interesting places
to see for the culture vultures out
there. The Betancuria Museum of Archaeology
and Ethnography, and the Tefia
Craft Village to name but a few are
well worth a visit.
Corralejo nightlife
Most of the nightlife on the island is based around the center of
Corralejo. All the bars and clubs
are located around the Main Street
(Avenida Del Generalismo Franco),
which runs through the centre of
town. Bars worth checking out include
Corkys Surf Bar (showing surf
videos), Rock Island and Blue Rock
(playing live rock music), Festers
Sports Bar (if football is your thing
;-), Flicks, Bellas, The Sandpiper
etc. these bars have happy hours
at various times during the night
and are all open until 1.00am. One
of our favourite hangouts is
The Green Room where you can chill
out after a full day in the water,
enjoy a good pizza and check out
the wind and swell forecast on the
internet ;-).
If your a party animal and wish to stay out later there are three
clubs open late until the early
hours of the morning. Try
Majestics (next to Corkys), Club
Estella (near the Shell Garage)
and Waikki Disco (at the top end
of town near market.) Bear in mind
you'll want to be up bright and
early the next day fit and ready to tackle the
surf.
If you want to sample the local culture check out the traditional
bodegas and tapas bars in the smaller
towns and villages. Corralejo has
a variety of cafes and restaurants,
serving both local and international
cuisine, with some excellent fish
restaurants nestled around the
harbour.
